Coraline is worthwhile with or without 3-D
Went to a screening today of Coraline, the new animated movie based on a Neil Gaiman graphic novel that opens next Friday, Feb. 6. In it, the ubiquitous Dakota Fanning provides the voice of Coraline, a girl who discovers that a secret door in her new home, a rural house in the middle of nowhere, leads to an alternate universe of sorts.
The movie’s got its flaws – the story really lags in a few places and the concept isn’t particularly original – but it’s filmed in 3-D so once Coraline makes it to the fantasy world, there’s an added depth to the images as her wicked “other mother” (voiced by Teri Hatcher) tries to kidnap the poor girl by luring her with food she likes and by pretending to really care about her. There are some great vignettes with dancing mice and a scene with the ghosts of the other kidnapped kids. But I must say, however, that things don’t pop off the screen like they do in the 3-D versions of The Nightmare Before Christmas or in the recent Journey to the Center of the Earth. Still, it’s a movie worth seeing whether or not you see it in 3-D and that can’t be said for other flicks (you know who you are, My Bloody Valentine!).

Coraline is an awesome movie,i really wish i could c it again. the reason i really love this movie is because of the charecters and the way the charecter creaters made them is really amazing. the movie is really amazing.4 any one who has not seen it, i advize u to look it up on the computer and see when they are going to show it agin, but i hardly regret if they’ll show it again.like i said,Coraline is a good movie so when who ever u r gets a chance, go c it.
